A fine dated early 19th cent Welsh brass tobacco box. The top is engraved with an interior scene, this has some rubbing and is difficult to decipher accurately. The bottom is clearly inscribed “ J.THOMAS OF BEAMARES, JOYNER, 1802” The sides of the box have an engraved pattern.This box is in good original condition with a good tight hinge, as mentioned, there is some rubbing to the top which can be clearly seen in the photograph. Sizes: 4 ¾ “(12cms) wide, 2 ¼ “(6cms) deep, 1 ½ “(3cms) high. Date 1802.
