Description:
An excellent quality early 19th cent Regency period mahogany pedestal writing desk. This has six oak lined drawers and a cupboard in the left hand pedestal, the drawers and cupboard have working locks. The cupboard door has dummy drawer fronts and opens to reveal a shelf which can be adjusted in height. The top of the desk has a well tooled green leather surrounded by narrow cross banding. This desk has a generously sized kneehole for ease of sitting, it is polished at the back, so can be centre standing if required and is made in three sections for ease of handling. The condition throughout is excellent with a lovely original colour and polished surface, The drawer handles are old replacements. Sizes: 44”(112cms), wide, 24”(61cms) deep, 31”(79cms) high. Kneehole height:24”(61cms). Date circa 1820.
