Description:
A lovely quality, mid Victorian, rosewood jewellery box. The top which has a working lock opens to reveal the original fitted and complete interior with three rectangular glass containers with their original silver plate lids, and seven glass bottles, four bottles have plated lids, three have glass stoppers, all completely original. In the front of the interior there is a lift out lid which has a small set of toilet accessories attached to it, this lifts out to reveal a further storage area below. Under the lid there is a section which drops down to reveal a secret letter compartment. The drawer at the base of the box opens with a working key. The exterior of the box has all its excellent original colour and polished surface. The interior is lined in the original red materiel which is generally in very good condition but does show a few minor signs of wear. The drawer interior has been relined. Sizes: 11 ¾ “(30cms) wide, 8 ¾ “(22cms) deep, 7”(18cms) high. Date circa 1870.
