A very attractive, early Victorian period mahogany sewing side table. The top is serpentine shaped on all four sides and is inlaid with maple wood and walnut to form a fine chess board top. The table has a single drawer with a working key and a pull out sewing box, the exterior of this is pleated with a pale silk pleated materiel, the interior of the drawer and the box are lined in blue paper. The table stands on two carved and fretted supports which are united by a fretted centre stretcher. It is polished all the way round and therefore is completely centre standing, it has its original excellent polished surface and is in fine, strong condition. Sizes: 24”(61cms) wide, 16”(41cms) deep, 29”(74cms) high. Date circa 1840.
